Google Business Profile audit checklist.
The Google Business Profile is often a local business’s most viewed page, and the easiest to neglect. Use this checklist to audit one, and to show a business owner what to fix first.

The checklist
- Business name matches the real-world name, with no keyword stuffing
- Primary category is the most specific one available; secondary categories cover each main service
- Address or service area is correct, and the phone matches the website
- Hours, including holiday hours, are filled in
- Services and products are listed with short descriptions
- Photos are recent and real: exterior, interior, team and work
- The website link goes to the right page, ideally with tracking
- Reviews: count, rating and pace compared with the top three nearby
- Owner replies to reviews, good and bad
- Questions and answers are filled in and current
- Map ranking checked across the area, not only at the address
What to fix first
Wrong categories and a review gap against nearby competitors usually cost the most. Fix the categories the same day; build a steady habit of asking happy customers for reviews.
Questions
How do I audit my Google Business Profile?
Check the name, categories, address, phone, hours, services, photos and website link; compare reviews with nearby competitors; and check where you rank on the map across your area.
Why is my business not showing on Google Maps?
Common reasons are the wrong primary category, an unverified or suspended profile, fewer reviews than competitors, or a searcher who is far from the address. A map grid shows where you rank across the area.
